canon logo evolution
apple logo evolution

Neatorama’s got a great historical collection of tech company logos transforming, evolving, and even name changing over the years. It’s amazing to think about how some giant companies started, and how they adapted to nice design! Makes me wonder when it’s time to make a name change over a logo transformation…(there are many brands that I think suffer based on their crappy names)

jeff deboer cat armor
jeff deboer mouse armor

Jeff Deboer creates these freaking awesome Cat and Mouse Armor suits! I’d love to see Tom&Jerry duke away in these fierce creations, but for now I think this is the closest I’ll get a cat to resemble a Thundercat (hoooo!)

Check out his Cat and Mouse gallery here, and make sure to take a glimpse at his “how to make a samurai cat” section for more pics.

Personally, I’d be running all over the place if a cat had a joust strapped on it’s back… but just maybe, I’d stick cat food on the end and let it chase itself around all day…nah, I’m not that mean 😉

party dress seamless mit fashion show

“On Wednesday, January 30, fashionistas and techies will unite at SEAMLESS: computational couture, a fashion show and celebration that fuses cutting-edge style with the latest advances in technology. At this evening event that kicks off at 8 p.m., the Museum of Science exhibit halls will be transformed into a catwalk for “computational couture,” showcasing 20 selected, emerging designer teams from around the globe and creations that push the boundaries of wearable technology. Models wearing the interactive clothing will strut to live media performances by video artists sosolimited and DJs Eddie O and Mike Uzzi of Zero G Sounds.”

Above: Party Dress by Dana and Karla Karwas (New York):“Party Dress functions as a pavilion worn exclusively by five women that seamlessly injects architecture into fashion by using the body as space. The dress begins as a shared, bustled garment that gradually unfolds to create a temporary, inhabitable structure. Each seam, each dress, and each body are interconnected by a single, amorphous surface of flowing material.”

“With room for spectators beneath the fabric, Party Dress flirts with traditional concepts of public and private space while adding sparkling wit to the conversation between fashion and architecture. Party dress works across multiple scales and environments, unraveling conventional notions of space, materiality, and temporality.”

I’ll be covering the event so look out for more posts in the next few weeks. Otherwise if your in the Boston area, get your tickets here!($15)..oh, fyi, Project Runways Steven Rosengard, will be th MC.

Naomi Yotsumoto stylish ping pong player

Naomi Yotsumoto is a professional Japanese table tennis player that styles in a variety of colorful, whimsical, and self designed outfits during her matches. Disruption is good! She’s received a great deal of media attention much like Kournikova, Venus Williams, or Andre Agassi! What a trend setter!

Rock on! Who says ya can’t be stylish in a kick-butt geeky sport! (I like ping-pong)

A video of her blasting away at doubles after the jump! and a few others.

mark khaisman tape art

Who says ya can’t make something cool with translucent brown tape. Mixed media artist Mark Khaisman layers several pieces of tape on Plexiglas panels to create these mesmerizing rustic illuminations with textures much like a knife painting with broad wide strokes. Very cool, time lapse like retro, and mysterious… I’ll have to make some myself. (I love tape).

I’ll post a bunch of his pieces after the jump.

Derrick Wang piggybank
Derrick Wang piggybank

Hahaha, this made me smile in an odd happy nodding my head sideways kinda way. Derrick Wang brings to us a delicate white piggy bank that has a hidden little agenda… when ya bust it open to collect your sweet savings, it spills out the pigs red guts with it! yikes! Yeah, I know kinda disgusting but kinda cool!

It does make me question how did the piggy bank start and why a pig…ahhh, here it is!

This comes to show that if you treat certain ritualistic objects with a bit more reality(humor) it makes ya smile and buy stuff!(though I’m not a huge advocate of Consumerism)
