Sushi Pillows!!! Yuuuuummm!!!(I’m drooling) As much as I LOVE sushi, I’d go crazy if I had a few of these in my room and probably munch on them in my sleep, otherwise, I love the details in these oh so oishii pillows. I wished they had sashimi pillows and soy sauce blankets with green wasabi sheets to bunch up into balls! Maybe textured dark green sheets to roll yourself into a sleeping seaweed body roll! Look out for sushi costumes for the upcoming halloween! more pics after the jump…
First came the sweet Red Bull headquarters slide, and now comes an awesome slide installation by artist Carsten Holler in the Tate Museum in London. Reminds me of my days at Wet n Wild water parks. I like Hollers belief that “slides can help combat stress and depression.” ,but I think anything that zips me around at fast speeds will make me forget anything.(skydiving, rollercoasters, bungie jumping)
Anyhoots, I wish this installation was there when I was visiting recently. I’ll post more pictures after the jump, otherwise there’s a video of people plunging down the slide screaming and poppin off the ends! via BBC
I had the Best time watching this episode of “SouthPark: WarCraft” making fun of RPG’s(role playing games) filled with very real stereotypes that all you gamers will reflect upon. If your a gamer or just someone that knows a gamer, this is a definite dose of laughter!
Sidenote: It’s amazing how you can find TV episodes online for free the next day, or even minutes after shows are out. Will PVR’s(personal video recorders) like Tivo live on…Will online sales on iTunes work? Do we really need to download shows anymore(bit torrent, kazaa, etc) or will it all be free like most of us like it(daily motion, VeoTag, youtube, google video,(rumors are google might buy Youtube)), and TV’s vanish as online content is there anytime we want with most the ads edited out already? I could go on and on about this topic, so I’ll pause here… but free content rocks!
update: The original video(probably down still) I posted was ripped down for copyright blah blah blah, hence, I spent 10 seconds, and found another one!! Don’t they get it…once it’s out, it’s out…don’t bother…yihawww internet world!
I’m off to Wireds NextFest2006 in NYC to check out the best of what’s next! Here’s a great list of exhibits there!
Nextfest is:
“WIRED’s vision of a new world’s fair, WIRED NextFest is a four-day festival of innovative products and technologies that are transforming our world. Patterned on the great World’s Fairs of the past, this year’s NextFest in New York features more than 130 interactive exhibits from leading scientists and researchers around the world. Experience the future of exploration, entertainment, transportation, health, communication, design, security, and green living.”
If your in NYC check out! I’ll be back with crazy fun pictures next week!
Here’s a great video of mobile phones becoming…well, a mobile phone booth on wheels, which has given these handicapped people in Kenya a service along with their wheelchairs. Reminds me of those photographers in Paris that actually carry around inkjet printers and print your pics right there.
Would be cool to see more mobile services for public use..perhaps a restroom on wheels.. maybe a net enabled laptop on wheels or on someones backpack… though in nyc, Starbucks=restrooms, and the Apple store=free Internet.
I love it when stories, instructions, or just about anything gets communicated through the universal means of images and as little text as possible. The world of information visualization does exactly this by data mining the billions of bytes of data that none of us can see or prefer not to rumble through to figure out and visually communicating it to us mindless humans.
Anyhow, back to the basics, such as cooking! I’m the type that loves to cook, but hate to read while squinting my computer burned eyes onto poorly printed out inkjet recipes. I’m also the type that loves those emergency illustrations on airplane pockets. So by all means, I LOVE this project for a “wordless pancake recipe” which illustrates every step for making yummy pancakes. It reminds me of a wonderful book called “Instructoart” by Matthew Vescovo, which is an incredibly amusing must buy book. Check out their site for a musically and visually satisfying glimpse of Matthews book here. I’ll post some of my favorite pics from Matthews gallery after the jump!
If your craving some cool contact cards and have a Flickr account, head on over to Moo.com to get your very own Flickr Mini Cards! Basically, you get some cute contact cards with your Flickr pics on them, which you can custom fit.
I love the idea of turning customer created media into unique products. Perhaps they can use YouTube to make a comic book or optical contact video card. I might end up using Moo to make cards for Designverb, with selected posts on the backs of each card, then I’ll have a physical blog in a weird way spread throughout the people that I meet. They should fit perfectly into my custom pantone paint chip card holders, which I recently made for my own cards.(I’ll post after the jump) via boingboing Continue Reading
I initially thought these images were clever CG images, but in fact, their photos of Andre Agassi and Roger Federer (just won his 3rd US Open) having a blast atop the worlds highest tennis court hovering 1000 feet above the ocean at the luxury hotel Jumeirah in Dubai. How freaking cool!!! I’d lose hundreds of balls this way and would probably freak out walking towards the edges (heights= shivers). I’d want to wear a parachute while playing up there. Some beach goer must of been stumped when a random tennis ball hurled down in front of him. We already have Dinners in the Sky, so why not tennis.
I think this is just a concept, but it sure beats the web of crushed sheet wrinkles ya get at times. I’ve had stitched logos on shirts I’ve fall asleep on do this. The Livestrong armbands do this as well. It would be cool if the pillow case had a bunch of quotes stitched all over it, hence acting like a magic 8 ball each morning. via swissmiss

Wow!!!… Watch this video and be astonished, memorized, and creeped out all at the same time. I thought it was CG then realized it was freaking real!! What an awesome experience this must of been watching these master puppeteers work their magic in this festival! I wished I was in London when this event (The Sultans Elephant by Royal de Luxe) happened, but it’s not too late as the show will continue on to Calais (September 28-October 1) and in Le Havre (October 26-29,2006) I’ll admit, my first craving for puppeteers was while watching Being John Malkovich and now this amazing creation! I’m sure everyone felt like a kid again in some mysterious way. I want one! More pics after the jump!
More pics on Flickr here.

This is a great friendly reminder of what life’s like at times when the all mighty Internet goes down!!! My whole apartment goes crazy and we act like clueless confused cavemen, not being able to talk to people, google anything, look up addresses, buy movie tickets, check the weather, buy stuff, know the news, and at times order food! If ya have 3 minutes, check out the video here! via Vandertramp.
Ever since I bought a digital camera I wanted to take a picture of myself everyday for a long period. Well, that long period lasted maybe a week before I broke my routine. If your wondering what the results would have been like, check out Ahree Lees documentation of herself everyday for the last 3 years here!!!(or the full video here) It’s pretty amazing seeing time pass by. There’s this other guy that took a picture of himself each morning for a year, and this Google employee with a photolog of every single meal he had at Google for about a year. Be interesting if you could get a ClickDensity map of some sort over those images…perhaps what parts have changed, where zits appeared and vanished, what you ate, etc. Perhaps something like MouseMiles, to track the distance you mouse travels daily.
update: a guy does it for 6 years here!
