It’s that time of year again when thousands of students, high school and college, worldwide fly into Boston (nov9) for National Portfolio Day for advice, tips, and tricks. Be it drawing, sculpture, academics, photography, writing, graphics, products, architecture, film, painting, or just to find out more, it’s always a great day to see our next generation of creativity at such a young age.
I’ll be reviewing portfolios for RISD again so look out for me! If you cant make it, be sure to read my 10 tips from previous years here. Generally each person gets about 10-15 minutes dependant on the crowd, but RISD generates a huge line so get their early if ya can!
Will I Am launches a new song in celebration in the new presidency here. Also watch his previous videos “Yes We Can” and “We are the Ones” which I’ll also embed after the jump.
Very cool. makes ya think about doing things differently!
“GuerilLA, the Improv Everywhere-offshoot in Los Angeles, recently put up their newest mission, Aerial Philanthropy. The group threw dollar bill airplanes off of a parking deck in Los Angeles by the ArcLight Theatre. You’ll notice Skylar Stone randomly happened to catch one of the bills.”

Fritz Panzer creates this oddly creepy but very cool diminishing wire escalator.
How awesome! Seongyong Lee added a little air bubble to his utensils designs which float them like buoys with handles in the air, and a nice scooper for your punch bowl!

Swwweeeeet! IdeaPaint transforms any surface into a dry erase board!!!! Just paint over it, let it dry, and marker board away! I’m wanting to paint every elevator, table, chalk board, ceiling, projection surface, column, sketch book cover, and everything else! It’s also very environmentally friendly, allowing any surface to be easily repainted. Watch a video here and get your FREE sample!!!!
If you prefer, you can ChalkBoard your space as well!
I found this fish blimp video amusing. A simple change in an object transforms the space surrounding it. Before it was just a blimp floating in thin air. Add some fins and some movement to that object and the space once perceived as air becomes more fluid, thick, and water like. Perception, Perspective, fun…all part of design.
